Gronau/Greven, Apr 8, 2008. The technical requirements that the international suppliers of automotive groups must meet are increasing steadily. Thanks to the certification in accordance with the demanding ISO/TS 16949 standard, the NORDENIA Group now belongs to the most modern film manufacturers supplying the automotive industry.
The international manufacturer of flexible packaging, technical films, and product components is now officially approved to manufacture competitive, high-quality products for the automotive industry at the Gronau site. "This certification is an important requirement in order to qualify as a supplier," says Dr. Manfred Zamzow, Head of Business Unit Automotive/Surface Protection Films in the NORDENIA Group.
ISO/TS 16949 aligns the automotive industry’s international quality management system requirements. The first cooperative projects with the automotive industry already existed prior to the certification. NORDENIA currently produces interior and exterior car films, films for truck containers, and wax substitute films at the Gronau site.
NORDENIA passed the certification on the first try. The company had to comply with several hundred ISO/TS 16949 requirements. “Considering the complexity of the standard, that is an above-average result,” the DQS auditor says. Most initial certifications in the business usually end with more serious shortcomings.
