NORDENIA Supplies Film for Interior Panel
Gronau/Greven, Oct 1, 2009. A very good deep drawing ability, an even and consistent grain as well as high scratch-resistance: these are only some of the advantages of the NORDENIA film used for the scratch-resistant map pocket of a premium vehicle and the rear side panel of a convertible. These products are produced by Johnson Controls, one of the world’s leading suppliers of automotive interior systems, electronics and batteries. NORDENIA DEUTSCHLAND Gronau GmbH, a subsidiary of NORDENIA INTERNATIONAL AG, supplies the film which was developed to be market-ready in cooperation with Johnson Controls. These two innovative and marketable products also won over the jury of the Automotive Division Award of the European section of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE). This year, the prize for the interior accessories area went to Johnson Controls, with two first places.
A further specific advantage of the film lies in the adjustable gloss level. The multilayer film can be adjusted in its gloss and cross-linking level to meet the customer’s wishes. The adjustment of the film gloss makes it possible to adjust the film optic to adjacent components without difficulty. Furthermore, the prefabricated parts’ are resistant to damage in long-term use, as the chipping as experienced on painted surfaces is eliminated. Johnson Controls calls this back-molded film process PP Thin-Film technology and is convinced that this new film is suited to numerous interior components whose design allows them to be covered with film.
